Thanks for checking out The Remote Composer. I’m James, a composer, producer, and founder of Occult Audio. With over 15 years in the industry, I’ve had the privilege of scoring films, TV shows, and games, including Six Years Gone, Fright, Bigfoot Trap (Showtime) and the upcoming Popeye movie.
Throughout my career, I’ve contributed music to countless projects, ranging from independent films to major productions, collaborating with award-winning directors, producers, and creatives. My work spans everything from emotionally charged scores to experimental textures that push creative boundaries.
In 2024, while expanding my team, I was struck by how challenging it was to find composers who were both musically talented and studio-ready. Many were skilled musicians but lacked the tools and knowledge to succeed in today’s competitive industry. That realization inspired me to create The Remote Composer—a resource for aspiring composers to learn the techniques, workflows, and business skills needed to thrive in modern media production.
